times were darker – once

we leaned against each other

nestling in the shade

For my own pleasure, I’m going to move the em-dash to the other side of once having this haiku read:

    times were darker once —
    we leaned against each other
    in the shade

I rather like happy endnings… and by writing it this way I can imagine them gaining comfort from each otherr in spite of the dark times….

I love haiku… take from it what feeds you! Thanks for this post… it’s a great haiku … can be read many ways…

Hi Merrill, you can move the em-dash wherever you like, it’s a pleasure for me. 🙂 I like your version too!
